Some years back I was having a conversation with Neil Ramsden at the Den in Keighley. The thought came up that if you were to upgrade the connection between the power amp and speakers in a combo or the input socket and speaker in a cab, then it would improve tone and clarity. I went ahead and had it done on my Music Man 75. The difference was immediate.
There is often a slight harshness about valve amp tones which I thought was just down to that type of amplifier. I was surprised to find that the harshness disappeared. My tone had become broader and more dynamic with much livelier harmonic response.
Turbo>Tone is now fitted inside the Vox Cabinet I use with my Healey Sapphire Head Amplifier. The result has really enhanced my enjoyment of playing the guitar.
The whole job on the Music Man including fitting was around £60.00. £20.00 for the Vox Cabinet. I could have easily spent a lot more to achieve a lot less!
